We are Family

How should family members treat each other?  How should citizens treat each other? How should human beings treat each other?  That has been on my mind for the past few weeks, and has come to ahead with the recent events in downtown Portland.  I leave in Beaverton which is 10 miles from where I live.

Yesterday, I was reading and praying Matthew 12:46-50.  In it someone says, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, asking to speak with you.”  Jesus did not run and leave those he was speaking to.  He answered with a question and a statement.

“Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my heavenly Father is my brother, and sister, and mother.”  Matthew 12:48-50

Well, His disciples are his mother, brother and sister.  Not because he is speaking to them.  No, it is because they are doing the will of the Father.  That will is to love all with no exceptions for we are all children of God.  As the song goes, “We are family!”   Mothers and dads are in downtown, we must protect and teach.  See video link below.
