John KingeryI graduated from Seattle University in 1981, with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration.  My studies included Social Theology and the Synoptic Gospels.  Since that time, I have co-facilitated numerous small faith communities and scripture studies at Portland area parishes.  I recently completed the JustFaith program covering Catholic Social Teachings and their practical application.

I have been a member of the St. Juan Diego Social Justice Committee since 2006. I expanded the ecumenical Peace Lamp and Prayer Vigil program to three other parishes.  The program reached 15 faith traditions, 24 congregations and over 7,000 households generating nearly 300 prayers for peace.  I have spoken at numerous Portland area interfaith services on the topics of peace and justice.

During my career, I solved complex data and technology problems for media, telecommunications, manufacturing, and healthcare and social service organizations. Those organizations included the Riverside Press Enterprise in California, Seattle Times, Tektronix, Bonneville Power, and Providence Health and Services.  I saw those I helped as problem solving partners and provided them tools to meet current and future needs.  I endeavored to ‘show them how to fish as well as giving them fish to eat.’  I am currently on staff at Outside In working with homeless youth and the poor in downtown Portland, Oregon.

My wife Ann and I live in the Beaverton, Oregon.  She is responsible for the beautiful flowers and garden you see pictured on this site.  Ann has a skill for award winning photography.  Blue Cross Blue Shield used photos in their office calendars prior to our marriage.  We are members of St. Juan Diego Parish since 2002 and have been involved in small Christian communities and music ministry.  Our favorite color is red for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Thank you for visiting ‘Justice At The Table’.

In Christ and Peace,

John M. Kingery
